Mary Kay and I so enjoyed being with all of you last Sunday for our Easter worship together. I honestly can't imagine a better church family with whom to celebrate. I know we have our challenges right now - so many people in our congregation are hurting in so many ways. Please know that Mary Kay and I pray for you all every night.
Because of these trials, it's especially important to enjoy one another in the special occasions of life. I'm reminded of Paul's good advice in Hebrews 10:25: "Let's not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching." I look forward to meeting with you all this Sunday. Speaking of which...
This Sunday - Image & Potluck. Image from Mansfield Christian School will lead our worship for the entire Sunday morning. We have been so blessed in each of the last two years to have this group of young people come and sing for us.
As we've done before, we'll celebrate together afterward with a potluck meal. Think of what dish or dishes you might bring to share with others. Bring a little extra since we'll be also providing food to all the MCS students as well as their family members. Because of your generosity in the past, we're told that they look forward to their "Church Requel" Sunday each year!
Sheri and Jack Nichols also asked me to let you know that they will provide the meat for our potluck together. Thanks Jack and Sheri! So you are still welcome to bring anything you want to serve, but we should probably work more on bringing side dishes and desserts. Yum! Can't wait!
Also remember that we will most likely have many guests in our worship service Sunday morning. Let's all be good hosts. Be sure to smile and say "Hello." Show them where the donuts and coffee are, where the restrooms are, etc. Don't know about you, but I always love it when company comes over!
National Day Of Prayer on May 4th. I would love to see many in our church join in with the 66th annual national observance of the National Day Of Prayer. This event happens each year on the first Thursday in May. We are most fortunate to have a local network already established. I encourage you to join me at the Central Park Gazebo in downtown Mansfield on Thursday May 4th between 11:30am and 1pm. This community wide event will include corporate prayer, worshipful music by local musicians. There will also be a keynote speaker. For more info call 419-884-3648. I'll be there. How about you?
Dinner Theater May 6th Helps To Pay For New Carpeting. We have an exciting opportunity for anyone wanting to help us fund the sanctuary upgrades we are planning later this year. On Saturday evening, May 6th, Paul Lintern will host a dinner theater downstairs entitled, “1928.”
Those attending will enjoy a “live radio” broadcast from Mansfield’s own WJW radio, with Harold Arlin as emcee. Part of the funds raised will help pay for new carpeting in the sanctuary. Reservations for the $25 a plate dinner can be made by calling Pat at 419-756-1372.
Mary Kay and I made our reservations this morning. Pat told us that not very many people had reserved their seat yet. Let's make those reservations and show our support! Also Paul has decided to lower the price to $22 for anyone reserving and paying early. Yay!
These are the days... the only day we receive today is this day. It may not always be what we wished or hoped for, but it is often only as good as we decide to make it. Whatever is coming your way today I pray that you might be encouraged by God's Holy Spirit to know He is with you and wants your joy to be complete in Him. I love you all much! Pastor Mark
