This Sunday is a day many of us have been looking forward to for a very long time. Our Church Requel students, under the direction of Tamira Barnes, have prepared a very special Sunday morning program filled with videos, songs, skits, special instrument solos, multiple costume changes, all combined with an overabundance of cuteness. Above all, we are thrilled our children will be able to praise Jesus in a very special way on this - HIS birthday!
Thank you SO MUCH Tamira, for all of your hard work in organizing this special day for us. Thank you SO MUCH parents for helping your children be a part of this day, with so many rehearsals and practices.
Speaking of practice - Parents - remember ONE LAST REHEARSAL Saturday morning at 10:30am!
To motivate and excite, here are a few more photos of what you can expect Sunday morning:
Seriously parents and grandparents - you will want to get a good seat Sunday morning. We will do our best to also capture a good video of the entire program, which we will distribute on DVD next week. But we know you will also want to capture some of your own photos too.
Potluck Celebration Afterward. We will celebrate a holiday meal after the Christmas program. The church will provide the meat, paper plates, lemonade, coffee and eating utensils. You bring everything else that you want to share with others. We've never gone hungry during a potluck meal!
Saturday Night - Feed The Hungry. Before we celebrate Sunday morning, we have the opportunity to serve Saturday night. Volunteers show up at 4pm to join Jack and Sheri, who are leading this Saturday's event. Bring desserts, if you can. We begin serving meals to the neighborhood hungry at 5pm and will wrap up by 6:30pm.
Christmas / New Years Schedule. We want to make sure that everyone knows the Holiday church schedule since Christmas and New Years both fall on a Sunday this year:
- We WILL have a full Christmas Eve worship service at 5pm on Saturday evening, December 24th. This service will include all the elements of our normal Sunday service, including worship singing, prayer, sermon, and communion. We will close with our traditional candle lighting Christmas Eve event.
- We WILL NOT conduct a Sunday Christmas morning worship service on December 25th. We know this is a special time for our members to enjoy their families on Christmas morning. So make sure you attend the Christmas Eve worship event the night before.
- We WILL conduct our Sunday New Years morning worship service on January 1st at our normal time of 11am. This will be a great opportunity to start the new year off right! I met with Paul earlier today and we have planned a really special Jan. 1st worship service together!
May you be filled with the same joy of that first Christmas sign:
"This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Luke 2:12
Christmas blessings everyone! Love you! - Pastor Mark
