You MUST watch this 5-minute video. Wow! The video ends with the question, "So what does it all mean?" I take a crack at the answer after the video.
So what does it all mean? Each person must answer for himself or herself. It is no secret that the amount of information is skyrocketing and that the ability to communicate with one another over vast distances has dramatically shrunk the size of our planet. (Great books to read to know more is The World Is Flat 3.0:A Brief History of the 21st Century by Thomas Friedman and Tribes:We Need You to Lead Us by Seth Godin.)
For me, personally, the answer is clear. God is working in my life to create a church that reaches people everywhere. Such a statement would have been ludicrous and megalomaniacal just a few short years ago. But now this is a very real possibility. I deeply desire to have close, personal relationships here in Mansfield - people with whom I can interact on a personal and physical basis. But I am also greatly impressed by the technologies that now allow us to reach the exponentially greater number of people beyond our own physical limitations. I believe there are people who believe this also and will want to join me so that, together, we can reach the world for Christ.
This is my primary reason for beginning the daily video Bible studies. I am well aware of the small number of people who watch it now. And it may always be small. However, my job is to spread the seed and trust God for the outcome. I believe He is calling me to create something that reaches people far beyond my own physical limitations. Technology itself is moralistically neutral. It can be used for good or for evil. My greatest, deepest desire is to use this space for God's glory and to work His will here on Planet Earth.
How would you answer the question, "So what does it all mean?"
