Hi everyone! Pastor Mark here with your weekly What's Happening blog entry for everything Church Requel. I know you are wondering about the picture on the left. Not particularly attractive, right? In fact you're probably wondering what this has to do with our weekend. Don't worry - I'm not going to invite you all over to my place to clean my dirty windows. Actually Dirty Windows is the name of the Childrens Sermon I have planned for Sunday night. Do you have an elementary child in your life? Make sure to invite them to come with you for a very special time up front with Pastor Mark.
Both our children's sermon and our adult sermon will come from one verse: Romans 8:34. The name of the evening's talk, "Jesus Is Making The Case For Me," gives us a hint of what we'll be talking about. I've really enjoyed the sermon prep this week. I hope that after our teaching time Sunday evening, you'll never look at guilt in the same way again! If you have something in your past that haunts you... that causes you regret... you will not want to miss our teaching this weekend! For those with the Bible app on your mobile device, the sermon notes are already available!
Easter Meal Donations. When you come to church Sunday night, don't forget to bring food! We plan to provide meals to those in need of a good Easter meal. Each Sunday we ask you to bring in cans of vegetables, stuffing mix, boxes of potatoes and dessert. Sheri and Jack will collect the food each week and will help coordinate the meal donations the week before Easter. If you know of a family who could use a meal, please tell us on the back of a connection card... or just email Steve Thoman the name and address of those we can help with meals this year. Let's make this the best meal donation yet!
Women's Bible Study. Ladies, we began our brand new Bible study two Wednesdays past. We enjoyed a great turnout! Ten of us joined together for Beth Moore's "Mercy Triumphs" study from the epistle of James. Topics in this study include: joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer. If you missed the first introductory lesson, it's not to late to join in. Email Mary Kay Pierce to order your book. Cost is $15. Our next study will be this Wednesday, March 14th at Mary Kay Pierce's home.
Men's Breakfast. Great news for all you guys, both young and old! The only person I know who cooks a better breakfast than me is my dad! Plan now to attend the next men's breakfast on Saturday, March 31st. Walt Pierce is already planning a great menu sure to include his famous fried potatoes. It also happens to be my dad's 82nd birthday! It's just like him to celebrate by cooking up breakfast for you. Put it on your calendar now - the last Saturday in March at 9am at my house!
Prayer List. We continue to pray for Lincoln - born 3 months early. Sonnie - Lincoln's grandma - tells us that he has done well in his first week. That's a real answer to prayer! Keep praying for Lincoln and his parents, Dan and Katie. We also are praying for Dick, suffering from shingles. He is experiencing much pain. Dick also needs prayer for an upcoming cancer operation on his nose. Finally, let's not forget to pray for our sons and daughters serving in the military - specifically we should pray for Connie's daughter, Nichole (serving in Afganistan) and Lisa's son, Joe (currently stationed in Texas.) Do you have something you'd like me to pray about? Email me and I'll pray for you!
That wraps up this week's blog post. I look forward to our time together Sunday evening. Do you know someone who might be able to use some encouragement? Send this to them along with your invitation. They will thank you. With much affection, Pastor Mark
