I am sitting on my patio feeling the cool breezes blow and waiting for the promised morning showers. Behind me - inside - our grandsons are playing. It's such a joy to hear children's laughter in our home again.
Jillian is attending a friend's wedding with school mates down in North Carolina and we have the privilege of caring for Titus and Matthias. Yesterday Mary Kay took the boys to see the giant bug exhibit over at Kingwood. Today she's taking them to a playground. I think her strategy is to wear them out! It seems to be working. They slept really well last night!
Sunday - Stand Up For Right! This Sunday's sermon is from Acts 4:5-22. I've named it: "The Stand of #5001." Never underestimate the power of even one person to stand up for what is right.
Sunday we will consider the courage of one nameless man who stood up for the disciples at a crucial point in early the early church. History is filled with men and women who stood for Christ even at the risk of their own safety. What about you? Will you stand shoulder to shoulder for Jesus and righteousness or slink down to the excuse that your personal presence couldn’t possibly matter?

The JamBand Is Back! Sunday morning our worship singing will be led by Brandi, Dave, Don, Dan, Brett, Brian, and yours truly. We also must remember Chris running the sound system because with so many instruments and voices it takes a maestro in the tech booth to bring it all together!
The songs we'll be singing Sunday morning are (1) "Hallelujah For The Cross" by Chris McClarney, (2) "Cornerstone" by Hillsong, (3) "What A Beautiful Name" by Hillsong, and (4) "The Way (New Horizon)" by Pat Barrett. We have all enjoyed playing together this year. It's hard to believe that six months has passed since we first sat down and jammed. We really have formed a bond together.
This is one of the funnest groups of people I've ever been around. Seriously, they all love to get together and practice! They are already at work on a couple of future songs too including "Overcomer" by Mandisa and "All Things New" by KXC Worship. Thank you all so much for supporting and encouraging us. It's just so wonderful to see live music played again at Church Requel!
The T-Shirts Should Be Here. I have received several notifications that the new Church Requel T-Shirts should be arriving later today. I also received a notification that the two smallest junior sized shirts we ordered were delayed and should be here by Monday. For everyone else look for your shirt on Sunday morning!
Several of you have asked about still ordering shirts. So we will open the order process for two more Sundays - this Sunday and next. If you want a shirt just fill in an order form and return with your money. Same price as before - $11 except for the larger sizes. Also - some of you have asked for black and we will make those available too. (Good idea Chris and Dave!)
Here is the PDF order form if you want to download it. (We'll have more printed up for Sunday morning too.)
Cleaning Crew Needed Friday Morning Aug. 3rd. If you are available, consider coming to the church on the first Friday morning of August to help Mary Kay and Tamara clean up the children’s area downstairs. We’d love to start the school year off with everything straightened and organized downstairs. Many hands make the work go faster and funner!
Next Summer Event - Canoeing August 4th. Leave all your cares and worries behind! Hop into a canoe and float / paddle your way down the beautiful Mohican River. We are so blessed to have such a natural beautiful State Park so close to us!
Saturday, August 10th we will all gather down at the Mohican Adventures Canoe Livery and Fun Center located at 3045 OH-3, Loudonville. Here is the Google Maps Link:
The cost will be $20 per person, unless you are under 10 years old - then it is free. The canoe adventure is 7 miles long and takes about 2 hours to complete. We'll find a place to enjoy lunch together afterwards. Doesn't this sound like fun? This event was voted by you as the best summer option. Don't miss it!
(By the way, if anyone is struggling with the finances to go - please don't let that stop you. We have someone who has volunteered to pay your way. Sign up Sunday and let us know that you want to take advantage of this generous offer.)
ONE MORE PICTURE... This is the very first picture of the group (not yet fully assembled) from our picnic. We weren't all gathered yet so it won't be our final. But I think it says a lot about who we are as a church! Thank you Ken so much for the great photo!
That will wrap up this week's newsletter. Have I told you all recently just how much I enjoy being your pastor! What a privilege! Love you all much! - Pastor Mark
