So many things have changed since Church Requel left the house church concept in October to begin our new life at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center. But one thing that surely has not changed - everyone loves a good potluck!
The evening was enjoyed by everyone present. We set a new record for attendance that evening by two people - 71 folks joined us all together. But I think we had enough food for three times that many!
One of the things about last Sunday that I will never forget was the worship we enjoyed after the potluck. We ate at 5PM and played the Hobby Who game during the meal, giving everyone a chance to know one another. Then, at 6PM we went into our worship time. Actually, it was a bit of a tough transition because one moment we were a group of people having fun and the next moment we were worshiping in church.
As we were singing the worship songs, people moved from the tables to the chairs close together near the front of our worship area. They did this without prompting, giving me a very warm feeling of family closeness. We are very new and very young as a church. Many of us are just now getting to know one another. However, Sunday evening, we not only experienced the warmness of family, we also experienced the warmness of the Holy Spirit's presence in our midst.
I took a few pictures of the potluck meal. You may want to check them out. See if you can find yourself. Feel free to write comments. Here is the photo album.
