Tim Vincent and my youngest daughter, Jillian, are engaged. It's official. It must be. After all, they have their own wedding website. Tim is a 2009 graduate of Cedarville University and is employed as an engineer by the Department of Defense, working in Dayton, Ohio. Jillian will graduate this May with a degree in psychology, also from Cedarville University. Both plan to pursue graduate degrees next year from the University of Dayton. Mary Kay and I are both thrilled with this announcement and look forward to welcoming Tim into our family.
They are planning their wedding for August 14th. As you can imagine our home has been turned into wedding planning central. Two weeks ago we celebrated a Michigan dinner with Tim's parents, Diane and Matt. They are also thrilled and we all enjoyed an evening planning for the special upcoming day.
As aware of the internet as I am, I was surprised by the concept of a wedding website. What a great idea! Those interested in the wedding can go to the website and find out lots of details. Some things that are meant only for the wedding party are required to provide a password to enter. Other information that is more general in nature is available for everyone. I think they also may be using the website for RSVPs as well - a great way for people to connect without postage!
When one brings up the website, they hear a song playing. The song is 'Til Kingdom Come by Coldplay. I had not heard the song before, but have learned to love it these past 24 hours. (I've downloaded the songs from iTunes and played it 18 times already!) Of course, any father of the bride would love these lyrics:
For you I'd wait 'til kingdom come
Until my day, my day is done
And say you'll come and set me free
Just say you'll wait, you'll wait for me.
Congratulations Tim and Jillian. The next six months are going to be a lot of fun!
