We are going to have a great experience together Sunday evening at Church Requel! I'm a bit late getting this Friday update posted. It's been one of those kinds of Fridays for me. I closed my computer without saving my sermon file today. Then when I opened it up, my faithful MacBook crashed and I lost my work! Oh no! But it's all good. I had the chance to write it twice so that means it will be twice as good right? Apparently I needed to learn the lesson of patience today!
This is an exciting time for our church. We begin a brand new sermon series this week - our summer study series in Philippians. I spent most of yesterday outlining our study plans. I decided we can't get it done in 13 weeks. But I do think it's doable in 16 weeks! Sunday night I'll be handing out a brochure that will let you know what we'll be doing each week so you can be reading and studying, thinking and praying on your own. Then when you come to church on Sunday evenings, you'll be all ready to go. I'm sure you'll have as much to share with me as I do with you, so feel free to write me often. By the way, would you like a preview of the summer schedule?

Our study Sunday night opens up the book of Philippians. We'll talk a little bit about the setting in which the letter was written. But mostly we'll dive into the study of Philippians 1:3-8. This is prelude to one of the greatest prayers in all of the Bible. We'll talk about how to pray for someone else. If your prayers for others are limited to "get well" prayers, or grace at mealtime, or if you usually only pray: "God I really, really need your help right now," then this weekend is for you! We'll talk about the seven foundation blocks for praying for other people. This is good stuff... I promise!
We wrapped up the "Count It All Garbage" sermon series last weekend... as well as the production of the CD sermon set today. I had a chance to listen to a sampling of them today in my car after I picked up the first production run. It's very professionally produced. (Thank you DRM!) You may ask, "Why bother buying the CDs when we make the mp3 audio files available for free on the web?" Simply this: Sometimes when you invest in a set of CDs, you will more likely listen to them back to back and over and over - especially if you have a CD player in your car! Many of you have told me how helpful this past 7-talk series was to you. So I hope these CDs will reinforce the lessons you have learned... and will keep learning as you listen.
Nate has a great music set planned for the worship... but this missive is getting long, so I think I'll just let you come Sunday evening and be surprised by the music. Nate does a really great job organizing our music and worship, doesn't he? If you haven't told him lately how much you appreciate him, stop him this week and tell him so. I know I'm so appreciative of him and everyone of you who minister with him!
We'll be doing something new this weekend. (Don't you love being part of a new church - seems like there's something new every weekend!) We plan on the worship service being finished about 15 minutes earlier than normal. Then, the leadership team will come up front for a few minutes to talk about some of our upcoming plans for Church Requel. We'll also answer any questions you might have about the church. These really are exciting times, aren't they? We have so much to talk about and to pray about! I can't wait to see you this coming Sunday evening at 6PM. Remember, we still meet at the Mid-Ohio Conference Center across the street from Arlin Field. I'm looking forward to seeing you Sunday night! - Pastor Mark
