My little girl is getting married later today. Normally I wouldn't have thought of blogging today, but I woke up at 4:30 this morning. I didn't wake up out of worry or anxiety. In fact I'd say my heart is so full of joy that I just didn't want to spend any more time in dream mode than necessary. Sometimes real life is even better than the dream! Today will be one of those days.
I so enjoyed our day yesterday. Mary Kay and I showed up early at the rehearsal hall and were soon surrounded with family and friends, all pitching in to make the place personal and special! Then we gathered in the church to rehearse the wedding ceremony. My brother, Todd, will be officiating. He did a masterful job of coordinating everyone and leading us through our steps.
Today I have the great privilege of speaking at the wedding. The couple have chosen a great Biblical text, Colossians 3:12-17. What a perfect passage for a marriage to based upon. I hope I'll be able to say what God has given me to say without being an emotional wreck.
I am so very happy for Jillian and Tim. I want them to enjoy a marriage as good as the one I've been blessed in. Mary Kay and I will celebrate our own 31 years together next week on August 18th. We have grown together and have learned to really love one another. My blessing is fully upon Tim and Jillian. May they know every happiness on this most wonderful day!
