Hi everyone! Pastor Mark here with your weekly "What's Happening at CR" blog post. Hope you are making it a good week. What's with all the rain? I guess we're getting caught up on the earlier draught. I don't know about you, but my yard is looking most jungle-like. I guess I'll have to take advantage of the sunshine later this afternoon.
Really important talk this weekend. I have really enjoyed preparing for this weekend's second 40DITW (40 Days In The Word) sermon. I have learned so much and I can't wait to share it with you! We'll learn seven reasons why I can absolutely trust the Bible as God's Word. I especially enjoyed the section on the scientific accuracy of the Bible. Believe me when I tell you that you really don't want to miss this talk. It will have a profound impact on your personal trust in the Bible.
40DITW Daily Devotionals. Have you been as incredibly blessed as I have with the five days of devotionals we've enjoyed together so far? Each day I think to myself, 'I don't know how it could get any better than this.' Then the next morning I watch another pastor share words of inspiration and profound wisdom. Yesterday I was blown away by John Ortberg's description of 3 categories of conversation - (talking to someone, about someone - without their hearing, about someone - when they are hearing.) I have never considered that God can never be in that second category! Wow! If you haven't yet started your daily devotionals, what are you waiting for? Go to 40DaysInTheWord.com to get started.
A Special Afternoon. Do you know how very blessed we are to have Pastor Steve at CR? I know you already love him for how he gives of himself to all of us. I thought I would share one more insight you wouldn't otherwise know about. This past Tuesday I spent the entire afternoon with him working on the talk for next Sunday, October 7th. This will be his first sermon. Last weekend he gave part of the evening's talk. (Didn't he do a great job?) In 10 days he will teach us seven way that God's living Word changes us. It will be another great talk and will be delivered from one of the most genuine people I know. Plan now to come and support him!
Bags and Bags of Clothing! I am blown away AGAIN by what a generous people you are! Last weekend was the first weekend you were asked to bring clothing that we would share with others. One whole corner of our storage room is filled with close to 20 bags of clothing! Jenn Carrick, Sara Scott, and Lisa Hatfield will have their hands full organizing it all for our October 21st delivery date. Keep on bringing your gently used clothing each weekend. If you also have plastic totes we could use to store clothing, that would also help. Finally, let Jenn, Sara or Lisa know if you can help with the setup on Ocober 21st. We'll need all hands on deck!
Picnic Photo Fun! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the photo and video fun taking place over on our Facebook page. Diana Devolder has been doing a wonderful job uploading new photos and videos from our wet and wacky picnic last Saturday. Keep going back because Diana tells me she has lots more to post! Here are a few examples of what went up this week!
New Families. Have you noticed how many new people are coming to Church Requel? The word is getting out! We had two new families come last Sunday evening and both said they would definitely be back again. Our little church is growing! Why not invite a friend to come with you Sunday?
That will wrap up this week's "What's Happening At CR" blog post. I look forward to seeing all of you Sunday night at 6pm. With much affection, Pastor Mark
