SGood Sunday morning Church Requel!
This has been a special week for your pastor. I've spent each day with some of my family. Last night Tim and Jillian and their family stopped in for an overnight stay on their way to Pennsylvania. So this morning we enjoyed a breakfast out together.
Each night this week I've partnered with my son, Jonathan, to help run the sound tech for the Galion Community Theater production of Newsies. Two of Jonathan's sons, Grayden and Cohen, have a part. The show is really a good one. I love musicals, especially when they are by local community theaters. These kids from Galion are amazing.
The most fun for me, however, is to be Jonathan's assistant. Watching him run the giant soundboard is wild. (Sorry for bragging but...) he is really gifted with running sound. It's a pleasure to be his assistant calling out cues.
I do have my own small role to play too. I have seven jobs to do in the show - 3 sound effects and 4 graphics to display. After 5 rehearsals last night I got 6 1/2 of 7 things done right - the best I've done so far. I am proud that I have not made the same mistake twice, but it does seem like each night I find another new way to make a mistake! Ha!
As of this writing all the tickets for Friday night and Sunday's matinee are sold out. There are still a few seats left for Saturday's two performances - but I'm sure they will be sold out by the time the curtain goes up. How exciting for all those kids!
Sunday Morning - Praying As A Church. Sunday morning sermon focus will be on Acts 4:23-31. We will consider 6 prayerful ways the church benefits when the church prays together.
What happens when the church prays together? When does the church pray together? There are many different kinds of prayer. Sunday we'll talk about corporate prayer - the powerful kind of praying when the church gathers together in agreement and prays as one. Prepare yourself for a fresh wave of prayer boldness.
Haleigh is back! Sunday morning will be special in another way too! Haleigh Trubachik will be back singing with Brandi and Trish Sunday morning. Some of you may not know this but Haleigh was instrumental in the very first days of Church Requel ten years ago. She ran our computer and helped her dad set up when we met in the conference center. Those were the days when our setup began at 2pm so we could have a worship experience 4 HOURS later.
Some of you also might remember the special Father's Day videos we produced a few years ago. Haleigh and Bryan showed their funny side in "Real Dads Of Genius." (Watch it on YouTube here.) Welcome back Haleigh!
The songs we will be singing are "Man Of Sorrows" by Hillsong, "I Surrender All" by Casting Crowns, "Enough" by Barlow Girl, "Ever Be" by Bethel, and "Your Grace Is Enough" by Chris Tomlin.
Last Chance To Order CR T-Shirts. There are a few of you who missed the order chance the first time around so we are accepting a second round of orders. This time we have added black to the mix. Thanks Chris and Dave for asking. The black looks stunning. I may have to get myself one too! This Sunday will be the last chance to order. We'll place the order on July 31st.
Three of you missed your t-shirts even though you ordered them. We received wrong sizes of delays in the order. (Diane - this includes you.) We should have all of them in this afternoon and available on Sunday.
How fun! I never would have guessed that so many of you would be interested in a Church Requel T-shirt. Can't wait to see all you wearing them! This is a great opportunity to talk about your church. Be prepared to answer the question - "What is a Requel!" (We are not a prequel church - the story before the story, or a sequel church - the story after the story. We are a Requel church, doing church as close to those first churches as possible.)
Cleaning Crew Needed Friday Morning Aug. 3rd. If you are available, consider coming to the church on the first Friday morning of August to help Mary Kay and Tamara clean up the children’s area downstairs. We’d love to start the school year off with everything straightened and organized downstairs. Many hands make the work go faster and funner!
Next Summer Event - Canoeing August 4th. Leave all your cares and worries behind! Hop into a canoe and float / paddle your way down the beautiful Mohican River. We are so blessed to have such a natural beautiful State Park so close to us!
Saturday, August 10th we will all gather down at the Mohican Adventures Canoe Livery and Fun Center located at 3045 OH-3, Loudonville. Here is the Google Maps Link:

The cost will be $20 per person, unless you are under 10 years old - then it is free. The canoe adventure is 7 miles long and takes about 2 hours to complete. We'll find a place to enjoy lunch together afterwards. Doesn't this sound like fun? This event was voted by you as the best summer option. Don't miss it!
Wendy and Stanley - the new couple that has been attending the last 6 weeks - would really like to go. We have someone who has donated their cost, but they still need a ride. Could one of you give them a ride to Mohican?
ONE MORE PICTURE... Here is the final church photo from the church picnic. The one I gave you last week was one of the preliminary photos. Here is the final. You can click on it to see the full-size version. Thank you Ken so much for the great photo!
That will wrap up this week's newsletter. Hope you are having a great weekend. Hope to see you on Sunday morning! Love you all much! - Pastor Mark
