Good Saturday morning Church Requel!
Welcome to this special Saturday edition of our weekly newsletter. Yours truly made Friday a grandpa day (and I have no regrets), so we are getting the weekly newsletter out one day later than normal.
Church Requel made the front page of the newspaper! And for good news too! I love this. The caption beneath the photo reads this way:
"CHURCH REQUEL 2 Marion Ave. Mansfield served a free lunch at the open air gospel music concert held on the church lawn on Saturday, July 24. Bryan Trubachik, Mary Kay Pierce, Mark Baserman and Leia Walker helped to work at the concessions which offered a free hot dog, chips and a cookie."
Yay for you! Do you know how uncommon this is in this day and age? Good news? Good CHURCH news? Wow! Congratulations again to everyone who participated a couple weeks ago.
Lessons From Concert Weekend - Part 2. This good news continues to form the basis for our sermon plans tomorrow as we wrap up the mini sermon series on the positive lessons reaffirmed from Concert Weekend. Last week we talked about the first three lessons. This week we'll talk about three more.
Here are the songs we plan to sing tomorrow: "Dwell In The House" by Yours Truly; "Song of Heaven" by Mac Brock; "Praise His Name, Praise His Name" by Yours Truly, and "Only A God Like You" by Tommy Walker.
Our special music tomorrow will be offered by Englanders Don & Vanessa Causley. I think you'll love what they have to say and what they have to sing! I know I do!
Baptism & Potluck - August 29th!!! I'm really excited to share this news with you. In three weeks we have scheduled a very special Sunday! We will enjoy our first public baptism service and potluck meal in a year and a half! (...since Covid began.) Leia Walker has asked to be baptized. I can't help but think that there are others who might wish to be baptized also. Please let me know. If you're not sure, just contact me (mark.pierce@churchrequel.org) and we can talk about it.
Afterward we will enjoy a potluck meal together. So begin planning now to not only come, but also what food dishes you will want to bring to share with everyone else.
Neighborhood Meal - One Week From Today! Ok folks... we can't rest on our laurels. In exactly one week we have the privilege to serve our neighbors a warm and hearty meal. Many thanks to our new deacon, Don Angel, who will lead the way for this neighborhood outreach. Everyone plan to volunteer your time beginning at 4pm. Bring desserts to share. We are usually wrapping it up by 6:30pm.
As I sign off today, I want to share with you one of the sweetest photos from our recent church service. Many thanks to Leanna Purdue, who captured this picture below as our church prayed over Don Angel and his new deacon responsibilities within the church.
I love you all much! Can't wait to see you tomorrow at 11am! Pastor Mark
