Good Friday morning Church Requel!
Wow! We have another HUGE weekend in store! So let's get right to it!
TOMORROW NIGHT - Worship Night! Four different churches come together each providing their worship leaders and praise team members for one huge worship event! How cool is that?!
Here are the details. The concert begins at 6:30pm. The doors open 30 minutes earlier at 6pm. The admission is free, so you'll want to come early to get the best seats! The concert will take place at Grace Church in Lexington - 215 West Main Street.
I know that Brandi has been working hard together with all the other worship leaders to provide this fantastic evening. So let's all rally and show up to show our support AND to have an extra chance to worship our Lord and King!
Jack and Cheryl will be with us IN PERSON Sunday morning! This is so cool too - to have someone who has been an active part of our online congregation be able to be with us in person. The Buckleys live in Virginia, so it's a nine-hour drive to Mansfield. That's no small drive to go to church! Ha!
Actually they are both really good friends with my dad (actually distantly related - but that's a whole 'nother newsletter!) and they want to visit with Dad on Saturday. So they'll be staying with Mary Kay and me this weekend. We are SO excited to have them as our guests!
Since they will be in town, we have decided to put them to work Sunday morning at church. We will hear that beautiful tenor voice of Jack's live and in-person! YES! He does such a great job singing for us online, I can hardly imagine what it's going to sound like in the beautiful, 135-year-old sanctuary of Church Requel.
Cheryl has become our prayer-partner-in-chief. Each Monday morning Cheryl takes all the prayer requests and praises from the day before and posts them on our Facebook Prayer Chain Group. We thought it would be marvelous to have her lead our prayer time this Sunday morning. We've asked her to share our announcements too!
Since Covid began, Jack and Cheryl have become a vital part of our church family. So definitely show up Sunday morning if you'd like to meet them in person! Jack may even have a fish story to tell, if you ask him. Cheryl could tell you a few Jack stories! Ha!
More Sunday Plans. Brandi definitely is NOT taking the Sunday off after her huge Saturday night. Makes me wonder if she will have any voice left over on Monday? Anyway, Brandi has put together a terrific worship plan for Sunday. Here are the songs we will be singing: "House of the Lord" by Phil Wickham; "There's Nothing That Our God Can't Do" by Passion; "When He Chose Me" by Yours Truly (This will be the first time we sing this as a congregation); "Something Good" by Gateway Worship; and "Yes I Will" by Vertical Worship.
Our sermon Sunday will be from the last few verses of Ephesians 1. We will wrap up the 9-sermon series all from this important chapter in the Bible. Paul has written some incredible words in his teaching to the church in Ephesus (and in Mansfield) and he definitely does not disappoint with his ending. We will learn all about the power we have available to us as Christ-followers and together as Church Requel!

Sequels Student Ministry Continues Strong. We want to give a big shout out to our younger members, who are so enthused about the Sequel Student Ministry each Sunday morning. Eddie Walker, our student ministry leader is doing a super job in teaching our young people each Sunday. If you have a friend or family member, who is a 4th grade student or higher, invite them to Church Requel! If they are like our students, they will love it!
So Much More Happening in November!!! Make a note of these special dates coming up:
- Godsfield Thanksgiving Week services - 8 worship services, 8 different churches, all to say "thank you" to God. There is a signup in the lobby of Church Requel. We would like at least one representative from our church to attend each one. I'm so proud of you all. We have most of the services accounted for with representatives from our church. We just have a couple more to fill. Would you pick one you will attend this Sunday morning? Personally, I'm committing to go to all of them if I can. Don't let me go alone!
- Thanksgiving Celebration Potluck and Concert at Church Requel on November 28th. We will have our regular worship service at 11am. Then we'll enjoy a potluck meal together. Then at 1pm we will come back upstairs for a worship concert. Many of our Godsfield churches will also come and join us at our concert. Let's be good hosts!
Samaritan Purse Operation Christmas Child. Take a box. Shop for a child. Bless a child somewhere in the world, who might not have a Christmas without you. Boxes should be returned this Sunday. Thank you so much Cindy, for heading this up for us each Christmas season. We all appreciate you! More info here: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/
Whew! We sure do have a bunch of things going on these days! Would you want to have it any other way? Hope to see you all Saturday and Sunday! Hope you have a GREAT weekend!
Love you all! Pastor Mark
